Hart Learning Group is a proud community partner with the DC Rape Crisis Center<\/span><\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0We support their efforts with training volunteers who work with hotline and advocacy clients.<\/p>\n

Their 40th Anniversary Celebration, on October 20, 2012,\u00c2\u00a0was a celebration for clients, volunteers and community supporters.<\/p>\n

The program began with these stirring remarks from Santa Molina-Marshall, Director of Counseling and Advocacy,\u00c2\u00a0\u00e2\u20ac\u0153You are why we do what we do. We are here to honor you.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

It went on to feature poems, music, a drum circle, and a\u00c2\u00a0video, 40 Voices,<\/em> that speaks of the desire to create a world without sexual violence.<\/p>\n

I was honored to speak about our joint efforts using poetry as a creative tool<\/span><\/a> for self-care and to help clients find their voice.\u00c2\u00a0I led a poetry flash-mob that got everyone up on their feet, and performed three poems – Truth Teller, Silent Thrivers,<\/em> and Healing Walks<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

It was an inspirational celebration of 40 years of service. We wish DCRCC continued success and look forward to continuing our community partnership with them.<\/p>\n
